Playing safeRFID transponders protect against counterfeit products
In the case of high-quality branded products, forgeries can cause millions of pounds worth of damage; in the case of pharmaceutical products they can be life threatening. Manufacturers and consumers alike benefit from effective protection against plagiarism. EPC/RFID technology offers completely new potential here. The Electronic Product Code (EPC) functions like an ID card for consumer goods, and unambiguously identifies them as originals. Thanks to an individual serial number, individual objects can be identified at any time and anywhere – counterfeit products no longer have a chance. Confusion ruled outThe use of RFID in hospitals is also designed to increase safety. Hospitals are making increased use of this technology to prevent errors when treating patients. In some hospitals, for example, Patients are given a bracelet with an RFID transponder when they are admitted. The stored code provides information on the medical history, possible allergies and any medication required. Doctors and nurses can call this information using a hand-held reading device and thus always have the relevant patient data at their fingertips. |
