Alliance of trade and industry

The EHI Retail Institute and the Markenverband are equal-ranking partners in GS1 Germany

A common vision: in 1974 organisations from trade and industry founded the Centrale für Coorganisation, which is today GS1 Germany. Their aim – to develop solutions based on partnership for cross-company information and logistics processes – still applies today. As shareholders the EHI Retail Institute and the Markenverband support GS1 Germany in enhancing the efficiency of the flow of goods and data along the entire value chain.

The EHI is the research, consulting and training institute for the retail trade and its partners. Its 500 members include international retail companies and their inter-trade organisations, manufacturers of consumer goods and service providers. The scientists of the EHI focus on the most important future-oriented topics of the retail trade – from payment systems to logistics and from packaging concepts to eCommerce. Here there are close links to the work of GS1 Germany.

This cross-industry organisation represents the concerns of the branded goods industry sector vis-à-vis politicians, market partners and the public. The aim is to improve the general conditions for developing and marketing branded goods. Together with GS1 Germany the Markenverband wishes to promote the efficient interplay of manufacturers and the retail trade. The organisation consequently regards itself as a promoter of uniform process and technology standards.
