Key data in the corporate history

The CCG – Centrale für Coorganisation – is founded in Cologne. Its aim is to establish uniform standards for trade and the consumer goods industry.
Twelve European countries – including all the EC states – agree on a uniform European Article Number (EAN) – the barcode is born.
The number systems and message standards of the CCG are increasingly being used outside the consumer goods sector. The CCG consequently extends its field of activity to associated industrial sectors.
RFID technology develops rapidly. The CCG establishes an EPC/RFID specialist group containing representatives from industry, trade and logistics and consistently promotes the implementation of Radio Frequency Identification.
The CCG becomes GS1 Germany. After the USA, GS1 Germany is the second largest of the more than 100 national organisations in the international GS1 (Global Standards One) network.
The EAN barcode – the classic barcode – and the GS1 standards are 30 years old. And SINFOS becomes SA2 Worldsync: the new market leader in the field of data pool and master data services is represented in 15 countries.
GS1 Germany’s strategy group “Future” develops a concrete roadmap for the future – companies can use uniform standards as a basis to prepare for the new challenges of the market.
Adoption of the terminology concerning GS1 standards to internationally used terms.
