Terms and Conditions for Use of the GS1 Campus Platform

1. Scope of application

These terms and conditions apply to participation in training courses and the use of additional content on the “GS1 Campus” learning platform, provided by GS1 Germany GmbH (hereinafter: GS1).

On GS1 Campus, users can access both on-demand training courses (training offers that are available to users anytime and anywhere in digital form) as well as the following additional offers:

  • Publicly accessible training courses
  • Publications on specialist topics
  • Technical literature

The use of GS1 Campus requires the creation of a personal customer account. Further information on the processing of your data can be found in these terms and conditions and in the privacy policy on GS1 Campus.

2 Registration for training courses and confirmation

Registrations are considered in the order in which they are received. The present terms and conditions apply and are deemed accepted upon registration. GS1 reserves the right to limit the number of participants, adapt content and make changes to dates or programmes.

3 Fees

Unless otherwise stated, the participation fee applies to one person and is exclusive of statutory VAT. In the event of changes to the duration of an event, GS1 reserves the right to adjust the price. 

For publicly accessible training courses, the participation fee becomes due and will be invoiced at the start of the respective training.

For on-demand trainings as well as for the purchase of publications on specialist topics and other subject-related content on the GS1 Campus, the fee becomes due and will be invoiced upon conclusion of the purchase contract.

In the case of printed prices (e.g. in paper brochures), these lose their validity upon publication of the subsequent brochure.

4 Withdrawal / Cancellation

Cancellations must be made in writing, and withdrawal must be declared no later than 28 days before the respective event date. In the event of later cancellation, the full participation fee will be charged. In the case of cancellation after this date or non-attendance without cancellation, the full fees will be charged. Cancellation fees do not apply if a substitute participant is provided.

5. Examination modalities for courses

For booked courses with a final examination, the examination date booked as part of the course is binding and cannot be postponed by the customer. One free resit examination is included in the fee; the date for this will be set by GS1 Germany and communicated to the customer. Each additional examination will be charged at a fee of €300 net. There is no entitlement to preferred or alternative dates.

6 Rights of use, personal use and access data

All documents, training materials, content and other information provided on GS1 Campus are protected by copyright. They may not be reproduced, distributed, made publicly accessible or passed on to third parties without the express permission of GS1.

The booking of training courses and the use of all content on GS1 Campus are personal and exclusively permitted to the respective registered person. This applies equally to all training formats offered.

The disclosure of access data (username and password) to third parties, as well as simultaneous or shared use of one account by several persons, is not permitted. The customer is obliged to treat their access data confidentially and protect it from access by third parties. In the event of violations of these regulations, GS1 reserves the right to temporarily or permanently block access to GS1 Campus and, where applicable, to subsequently charge for additional usage.

7 Use and transfer of data

Personal data are processed by GS1 exclusively in connection with the creation and management of the customer account as well as the handling of training courses and the use of additional content. These are used exclusively for the fulfilment of contractual obligations pursuant to Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, or on the basis of statutory requirements pursuant to Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR. Further information on data protection can be found on the GS1 Campus website under Privacy Policy.

Use of data for advertising purposes

If explicit consent has been given, we use the email address collected during registration to regularly send you information about our services and offers (training courses, publications, other offers related to GS1 Campus) by email. Data processing is based on your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. This consent is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future by contacting: GS1 Germany GmbH, Stolberger Str. 108 a, 50933 Cologne, or by email at widerspruch@gs1-germany.de

The withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the data processing carried out up to the time of withdrawal.

8 Liability

GS1 reserves the right to postpone or cancel the training courses offered (see section 1), including at short notice, in the event of insufficient demand, cancellation by the trainer, or for other reasons for which GS1 is not responsible. In the event of cancellations, GS1 endeavours to offer alternatives. If a training course is cancelled due to force majeure, illness, accident or other circumstances beyond GS1’s control, GS1 shall not be liable for damages. If an event cannot be held in the original format due to force majeure or other circumstances beyond GS1’s control, GS1 reserves the right to change the format at short notice in order to ensure the delivery of the training.
