Legal Notice Scan2Trust
Version
June 2026 – Amended Version
This application ("App") is provided by GS1 Germany GmbH ("GS1 Germany", "we", "us"). Additional information regarding GS1 organisations that may be involved with the App depending on country, market or area of responsibility is available here. If the App is obtained through the Apple App Store, the Apple-specific provisions in Section 3 also apply.
These Terms of Use govern the download, installation and use of the GS1 Scan2Trust App via the Apple App Store and related functions.
The App provides a mobile solution for checking and displaying code, identity and, where applicable, product information. The App may analyse code types and contents, display identity owners, provide product-related information and consider security or risk indicators. Unless expressly stated otherwise, the App is provided free of charge.
The provider of the App and contractual partner is GS1 Germany GmbH. Other GS1 organisations may be involved depending on country, language, support responsibility or data source. Their involvement does not in itself establish a contractual relationship with users unless expressly stated.
The GS1 provider is responsible for the App and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services. The App is licensed to you on a non-transferable, non-exclusive basis for use on Apple-branded devices you own or control in accordance with Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and applicable Usage Rules. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these provisions.
Use of the App requires a compatible mobile device, supported operating system, sufficient system resources and, for certain features, an active internet connection. Availability may depend on external services, interfaces, databases and technical infrastructure.
You receive a revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the App. You may not copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer, distribute or sublicense the App except where permitted by mandatory law or applicable open-source licences.
Information, validation results, warnings and notices displayed by the App do not constitute certification, approval, conformity assessment, legal advice or a binding confirmation of authenticity.
The App may display information from GS1 systems, identity data, product databases and external sources. Responsibility for accuracy and completeness may rest with the respective data providers.
Security, risk, URL, domain or WebRisk checks are based on information available at the time of review and may be incomplete, outdated or inaccurate. Both false-positive and false-negative results may occur.
The App is used at your own risk. It may contain errors, bugs, delays or incomplete functionality. It should not be relied upon as the sole basis for operational, commercial, regulatory, legal, security-critical or financial decisions.
Information regarding the processing of personal data is contained in the separate Privacy Policy for the App. The App may use camera and scanning functions, diagnostics, device and usage data, network calls, API requests and third-party services.
If user accounts are offered now or in the future, additional notices and privacy information will apply. Users must be able to delete their account or initiate deletion through the App or another clearly accessible process where required.
The App may contain open-source software, third-party libraries, SDKs and other external components that are subject to separate licence terms.
GS1 may modify, update, enhance, restrict, suspend or discontinue the App at any time, subject to mandatory legal requirements.
GS1 does not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or secure operation of the App. To the extent permitted by law, GS1 shall not be liable for indirect damages, consequential damages, lost profits, loss of data, service interruptions or system failures. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
The right to use the App continues for as long as the App is provided and used in accordance with these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.
These Terms are governed by German law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection provisions remain unaffected. Where permitted by law, Cologne shall be the place of jurisdiction.
If any provision is invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. By downloading, installing or using the App, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms where such acceptance is legally required.
