The SmartStarter1 product package is designed exclusively for small companies with an annual turnover of up to 250,000 euros who are looking for a smooth entry into the world of product identification with 1 to 5 GTINs. With basic functions, this package offers you the opportunity to identify your products with GTIN article numbers and thus be present in trade processes. No other identification numbers, such as a GLN, are included in this package. Upgrades to SmartStarter10 or GS1 Complete product packages are possible at any time. 

The main points of the scope of services are listed below:

1. GTIN-Global Trade Item Number

Choose from a range of 1 to 5 GTIN article numbers depending on your individual requirements. This allows you to adapt the product identification to your current product portfolio.

2. Step-by-Step expansion:

The package allows you to expand your product identification strategy step by step. Start with one GTIN article number and expand your identification as required by upgrading to SmartStarter 10 or GS1 Complete.

You can publish the linked information on our Verified by GS1 platform at the touch of a button and thus provide potential business partners with correct product and company information*. 4. Data publication in Verified by GS1:

If you as a company join the GS1 system and use our services, your product, company and location information will be published in the Verified by GS1 database. On Verified by GS1, (potential) business partners can verify GTINs and GLNs and query product master data, company and location data. This increases the visibility of your company and your products on the web and you also provide business partners and government agencies with reliable basic information*. If you do not wish this to happen, you can object to publication.

*Your products will be published on the Verified by GS1 platform for third-party verification. Your products will not be transferred to databases of business partners or marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay or others.

Smart Starter 10

The “Smart Starter 10” product package is a solution for companies that want to establish and expand their presence in the global retail environment, but whose annual turnover does not yet exceed 250,000 euros. The product package comprises 10 GTIN article numbers. The first GTIN in the contingent corresponds to the GLN (Global Location Number) as the primary identification number for companies. Upgrades to product packages with a wider range of functions are possible at any time. 

The main points of the scope of services are listed below:

1. GTIN - Global Trade Item Number

The product package contains a total of 10 GTIN article numbers, which enable your products to be uniquely identified. The GTIN serves as the key to managing and tracking products in the supply chain and helps to reduce mix-ups and errors.

2. GLN - Global Location Number

The first GTIN item number in this package corresponds to your GLN (Global Location Number). The GLN serves as a unique identifier for your company in the global trading environment. It makes it easier to identify and link your products to your company. n. It forms the basis for smooth communication and collaboration within the supply chain.

3. Other GS1 identifiers

With your GLN you receive your so-called GS1 base number. The term GCP (Global Company Prefix) is used internationally. In the SmartStarter10 product package, your GS1 base number corresponds to the first 11 digits of the GLN. The GS1 base number can be used to generate all GS1 identifiers.

GS1 Complete

The GS1 Complete product package offers comprehensive solutions for companies seeking a strong presence in the global retail environment. It is the ideal choice for companies looking for a comprehensive and scalable solution for product identification. 

It includes the assignment of a GLN (Global Location Number) as the primary identification number for companies. This contains the so-called GS1 base number. Internationally, the term GCP (Global Company Prefix) is used. The GS1 base number corresponds to the first 7 to 9 digits of the GLN. All GS1 identification numbers can be generated on this basis, such as GTIN (Global Trade Item Number), SSCC/NVE (Serial Shipping Container Code / Shipping Unit Number), GRAI (Global Returnable Asset Identifier) and GIAI (Global Individual Asset Identifier). 

The main points of the scope of services are listed below:
 

1. GTIN - Global Trade Item Number

The product package as a whole contains information that enables your products to be uniquely identified. The GTIN serves as the key to managing and tracking products in the supply chain and helps to reduce mix-ups and errors.

The length of the GS1 base number determines the number capacity, resulting in the quotas listed below:

• 7-digit base number: allows, for example, the allocation of up to 100,000 GTIN article numbers or up to 10 billion SSCC/NVE numbers
• 8-digit base number: allows, for example, the allocation of up to 10,000 GTIN article numbers or up to 1 billion SSCC/NVE numbers
• 9-digit base number: enables, for example, the allocation of up to 1,000 GTIN article numbers or up to 1 million SSCC/NVE numbers

If the capacity of the base number is not sufficient, it is possible to apply for additional GS1 base numbers.

 

2. GLN - Global Location Number

The first GTIN article number in this package corresponds to your GLN (Global Location Number). The GLN serves as a unique identifier for your company in the global trading environment. It makes it easier to identify and link your products to your company. It forms the basis for smooth communication and cooperation within the supply chain.
 

3. Other GS1 identifiers

With your GLN you receive your so-called GS1 base number. The term GCP (Global Company Prefix) is used internationally.
